Bus tour to Vineland

CHEMGLASS,
Precision Electronic Glass
(Possibly more time permitting)

The bus tour will depart from the Hyatt Hotel in Wilmington, make a stop at Salem Community College then continue onto Vineland, NJ for shop tours. At the end of the day you will be safely driven back.

This tour will give you behind the scenes access to modern production scientific glass facilities that are typically not open for the casual visitor. We will be broken up into small groups to provide you with the best possible learning opportunity. You’ll get to see up close and in person the various strategies employed in production and learn first hand how a companies’ philosophy of conducting business affects it’s finished product. For the trip out we’ve arranged for an expert guide on the history of glassblowing in south Jersey to introduce you to the long and rich glass history of the area before you arrive.

Some companies might require that you turn off your phone during the tour. We will let you know in advance if this is necessary. Please respect the privacy wishes of our hosts.

Bus tour to Wheaton Arts
Your host organizers are Klaus Paris and Kaite Jones

Wheaton Arts, an internationally acclaimed arts community, will provide an opportunity to explore the renowned Museum of American Glass as well as demonstrations by world class glassblowers in the Glass Studios. You will have the opportunity to discover other cultures in the Folklife Center as well as shop in the award-winning Museum Stores, walk the Nature Trail and picnic at the Gate House Café

Banquet Dinner with Cash Bar

To round out your Symposium experience, join us for a private after hours’event at Wheaton Arts Village where ASGS banquet participants enjoy time with friends, family and business partners in a casual atmosphere which culminates in the ASGS Art Auction co-chaired by Katherine Cheetham and Ruth Babbitt.

For those on the trip who prefer not to tour the scientific glass shops, you will have an opportunity to work with furnace glass at Wheaton Arts. When your self made furnace glass masterpiece is safely put to bed in the annealing oven, you can entertain your friends with glassblowing stories during the banquet dinner in the air conditioned event hall which will flow directly into the art auction.

At the end of the evening, there will be buses available to bring you safely and comfortably back to the SCC Glass Center or to the HYATT PLACE hotel.
